The Fundació Joan Miró is not only the works of the artist, it is also the success of the light, the spaces and volumes of the building designed by architect Josep Lluís Sert, and the cultural activities and exhibitions they program. In addition, visitors can enjoy stunning panoramic views of Barcelona and the Mediterranean while exploring the space.

The permanent exhibition of an important part of the collection of the works of Miró belonging to the foundation allows a journey through the creation of the artist, from the first drawings made in 1901, to the large format paintings of the last period. The foundation's collection is completed by Alexander Calder's "Fountain of Mercury" - which in 1937 appeared in the Paris Exhibition with the Picasso Gernika and the Catalan harvester by Joan Miró - and a collection of works by contemporary artists ceded in Homage to Joan Miró.

The Fundació Joan Miró was founded by Joan Miró himself in 1975 as a space to promote contemporary and modern art. Visitors can learn more about the history of the foundation and its role in Barcelona's art scene. The building that houses the foundation is a work of art in itself, featuring wide open spaces and an abundance of natural light that makes the works of art appear even more vibrant and full of life
