This series of photographs by Joan Guerrero portrays the life of the Quechua Indians of Ecuador and entitled "Lamento borincano" referring to a popular bolero which tells the way to the city from a poor peasant with joyful anticipation to sell his merchandise and his disappointment and return to the village empty handed. The harsh reality in Guerrero describes his photography is wrapped up by the quality of the fine gray and measured compositions. However prevails the criticism, the rebellion and the disapproval of an old warrior unwilling to surrender. As Guerrero said , "... the worst thing that could happen would be, that a banker buys me a photo to hang it in the lobby of a bank. This would mean that I have failed to express myself. "
