Expominer Barcelona

Expominer, Barcelona Market, the Exhibition of Minerals, Fossils and Jewelry, is the largest event held in southern Europe to buy, exchange and sell precious and semi-precious precious stones, meteorites, unusual minerals, authentic fossils and colored gems and varied shapes.

Expominer offers an extensive program of activities between talks given by renowned scientists, specialized workshops for experts and for those interested in entering the world of minerals, competitions for the whole family and exhibitions on fossils and minerals.

The 2019 edition of Expominer

In this year's edition there will be 110 exhibitors from more than 15 countries. The properties, uses and applications of chemical elements and their relationship with minerals will be the guiding thread of the 41st edition of Expominer, which coincides with the celebration of the international year of the periodic table. Thre will be talks about the discovery of chemical elements and their properties, and the possibilities they have of use and recycling in technology. The outstanding papers of this year will be those of Dr. Josep Maria Chimenos, of the departmental section of Materials Science and Engineering, Faculty of Chemistry - University of Barcelona, on sustainable materials from municipal waste, and that of Dr. Ana M. López-Periago, Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona - ICMAB-CSIC, on the discovery of elements in minerals.

Live the Geology

One of the most valued activities in previous editions, “Vive la Geología”, organized by the University of Barcelona (UB), is back. Through it, visitors can visit an exhibition on the textures of the main rocks; as well as knowing which ones have been used in the construction of some of the most important buildings in the city. In addition, children can build and take home an interior model of the Earth.

Surprise prize

Presenting an original drawing on the use of any of these elements in our day-to-day life, children up to 13 years old will be able to qualify for a surprise prize in the contest “Element of the Periodic Table and the application in everyday life”.

Replica of tyrannosaurus rex

The little ones can take a picture with a replica of tyrannosaurus rex that will be present every day, and participate in the daily draw of a quartz geode, a pyrite or a sample of fuchsite mica to start or expand their collection.

During the days of the fair, a stone will be given to attendees who show their entrance.

Expo Miner Barcelona is a fair for professionals and the general public.
