The Gran Teatre del Liceu, L'Auditori and the Palau de la Música Catalana join forces in the Barcelona Obertura initiative to promote classical music and bring it closer to the public. In collaboration with the Barcelona City Council and with the support of the "la Caixa" Foundation, they are offering two free concerts on the Bogatell beach on June 20 and 21. In addition, to reach groups with functional diversity and health problems that cannot attend live concerts, on June 19 there will be three concerts and choral singing workshops offered by the choirs of L'Orfeó Català in institutions near the beach, such as nursing homes and the Hospital del Mar.

The concerts on the beach will include the participation of the Orquesta Sinfónica del Gran Teatro del Liceo and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Barcelona y Nacional de Catalunya (OBC). They will be recorded and broadcast live by Betevé to bring the event to all homes, and will later be available on the digital platform CaixaForum+. The stage will have an orbit-like dome and will be located on the sand of the Bogatell beach. Screens will be available for the audience to enjoy the concert, and the lighting and sound will be adequately prepared to reach an audience of at least 10,000 people.

Concert on June 20

On June 20, the Orquesta Sinfónica del Gran Teatro del Liceo, conducted by Josep Pons, will offer a repertoire that includes Maurice Ravel's famous Bolero and Antonín Dvořák's New World Symphony. The Bolero is notable for its steady rhythm and rich orchestration, while the New World Symphony combines American folk-inspired melodies with elements of Dvořák's native music. Both works showcase the orchestra's versatility and will be performed on the eve of International Music Day.

Concert on June 21

On Wednesday, June 21, the Barcelona and National Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia (OBC), conducted by Ludovic Morlot, will perform a festive and popular repertoire. The program will include Antonín Dvorák's Slavonic Dances, Bedrich Smetana's My Fatherland No. 2 "The Moldavian", Rimsky-Korsakov 's Spanish Caprice and Georges Bizet's Suite No. 2 from Georges Bizet's L'Arlésienne, Farandole. The work "Empúries (Invocación en L'Empordà)", a free sardana for orchestra by the Catalan composer Eduard Toldrà, will also be presented. This outstanding program features great international names in music.
