The Festival Mas i Mas began its journey in 2003 as a jazz festival in Barcelona. Since then it has been expanding its offer and has opened to all musical styles. Throughout its history the festival has used its main venues(Jamboree, Tarantos and Moog) to offer great concerts of jazz, blues, soul & funk, flamenco shows and electronic music sessions. In addition to its main venues, year after year it has included new emblematic venues in Barcelona organizing concerts in Gran Teatro del Liceu, Teatro Victoria, La Pedrera, Auditorium, Plaza Reial, Palau de la Música or Teatro Grec.

The 2023 edition of Mas i Mas Festival

This year's edition of Mas i Mas Festival will feature more than 162 performances spread between the Mas i Mas venues (Jamboree, Tarantos -or Sala 2 -, Moog and Sala 3), and the Palau de la Música and Paral-lel 62.

As usual, the festival will open with a unique performance at the Palau de la Música. It will be a performance of the piece "Epitaph" by Charles Mingus, which has never before been played in Barcelona. The Clasijazz Orchestra, an outstanding ensemble promoted from Almería by the Clasijazz association, will be in charge of performing this composition. Clasijazz is recognized as one of the most outstanding jazz initiatives in Spain and has presented high quality proposals, many of which have been presented at the Jamboree. On the twentieth anniversary of the festival, Mas i Mas wants to recognize the enormous work of this organization by giving it the opportunity to inaugurate the event. Without a doubt, this concert is expected to be exceptional, with the participation of illustrious musicians such as Wayne Shorter, Wayne Escoffery, Perico Sambeat, Francisco Blanco "Latino" and Rita Payés in the Clasijazz Orchestra.

Jazz will be one of the outstanding genres of this year's festival, both at the Palau and at the Jamboree. Renowned artists such as Jerry Bergonzi, Bill Charlap, Michael Kanan, Jorge Rossy, Simon Moullier and Perico Sambeat, among others, will perform. The festival will conclude with a tribute to Jordi Bonell at Paral-lel 62, where the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Zeleste, emblematic place of the cultural movement of Laietano music during the Transition, will be celebrated. Mas i Mas'23 will also feature prominent artists of blues, rock'n'roll, flamenco, Latin music, urban music and electronic music in different rooms such as the Tarantos, room 2, room 3 and the Moog room. In addition, there will be six theme nights in the Paral-lel 62 hall dedicated to urban music, blues, gospel, Latin music and jazz.
