The work of Mark Redden (Dublin, 1979) has a direct relationship with the sea. The reinvented beast, created especially for the Maritime Museum of Barcelona (MMb), is the culmination of shipbuilding: a combination of wood, paint and imagination, a visual ode to the sea. Its concepts and titles have a clear reference to the maritime literature, adventure and science. In his work are allusions to Moby Dick by Melville, the Ictíneo by Narcís Monturiol or Robert Falcon Scott’s trip in the Atlantic. Redden's work allows us to experience the emotions that evokes the ocean: the danger, beauty and serenity in perpetual motion.
