Alphonse Mucha, born in 1860 and died in 1939, was a renowned Czech graphic artist and painter whose fame was consolidated in Paris at the end of the 19th century. His recognition is mainly due to his captivating theatrical posters created for the outstanding actress Sarah Bernhardt, a true superstar of her day. In addition to his iconic posters, Mucha also excelled in the realm of advertising and the elegant design of decorative panels. His work turned out to be a great inspiration for the burgeoning art movement known as art nouveau.

This exhibition focuses on Mucha's distinctive graphic style and the ideas that underpinned it, especially the notion of beauty, which was the fundamental tenet of his theories and artistic philosophy.

The exhibition is divided into three thematic sections. The first two highlight his contribution to the art nouveau movement in Paris, while the third explores the evolution of his art once he returned to his homeland in the Czech Republic.
