Although this film series covers a period of fifteen years in terms of the period of release of the films (between 1990 and 2005), its title refers to the last 40 years of Iran's history that are reflected in the seven films that will be screened in this cycle organized by Casa Asia in collaboration with the Cultural Department of the Embassy of the IR of Iran and the Farabi Foundation of Tehran.

Director: Abbas Kiarostami
Abbas Kiarostami is considered one of the most influential directors of post-revolutionary Iran, and one of the most internationally consecrated. In 1997 he received the Palme d'Or at Cannes for his film "Taste of Cherry" (1997). With "Close-Up" he was awarded in twenty international festivals.

Director: Bahram Beizai
Bahram Beizai is one of the most beloved artists in Iran. Before arriving at the cinema he was already recognized for his plays. Writer and editor of all his films, he is known internationally for "Bashu, The Little Stranger". In 1999 it was considered the best Iranian film of all time by some media in Iran.

THE BLUE-VEILED (1995/85 min)
Director: Rakhshan Bani-Etemad
Rakhshan Bani-Etemad is known as "The First Lady of Iranian Cinema." Her films, which combine absolute honesty and subtlety, analyze the cultural pressures that affect the lives of Iranian women today. With this film he received the Bronze Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival and the Fipresci Award for Best International Film at the Thessaloniki Film Festival.

Director: Dariush Mehrjui
Dariush Mehrjui was a founding member of the "New Iranian Wave" movement of the early 1970s. Most of his films are inspired by Iranian and international literature. His work has been awarded in more than forty occasions, highlighting among them the Concha de Oro of San Sebastian in 1993 for "Sara". "Leila" received awards at the international festivals of Rotterdam and San Francisco.

THE GLASS AGENCY (1998/100 min)
Director: Ebrahim Hatamikia
Ebrahim Hatamikia has devoted most of his film career to analyzing how the Imposed War (Iran-Iraq War, 1980-88) affected Iranian society. He has been present at international festivals such as Berlin and San Sebastian. "The Glass Agency" got five awards at the Fajr Film Festival.

I AM TARANEH, 15 YEARS OLD (2002/100 min)
Director: Rasul Sadrameli
Rasul Sadrameli made his directorial debut with "The Liberation" in 1982, after working a decade as a journalist. Most of his feature films focus on family drama. His film, "The Chrysanthemus", achieved one of the highest collections in 1985. At the 2002 Fajr Film Festival he won the best director and best screenplay award for "I am Taraneh, 15 years old".

Director: Reza Mir-Karimi
Reza Mir-Karimi, at first, was internationally recognized for his films aimed at young audiences. He has been awarded at numerous international festivals and two of his films were selected to represent Iran as a candidate for best non-English film at the Oscars, including So Close, So Far, which won the Best Film Award at the Film Festival of Fajr.
