Club Atlético Osasuna was founded in 1920 after the merger of two Pamplona clubs: La Sportiva Foot-ball Club and New Club. Osasuna is the most important football team in Navarra due to its track record and the years it has played in the Spanish first division (40). The team from the city of Pamplona occupies position 14 in the historical classification of the First Division, a league in which it was 4th twice, in the 1990/1991 and 2005/2006 seasons. Club Atlético Osasuna has participated in a previous phase of the Champions League and in four editions of the UEFA Cup, a competition in which it was a semi-finalist in the 2006/2007 season. Osasuna is one of the four clubs in Spain that is not a public limited company (the other three are FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Athletic Club).
