Cinema in 70 mm - Phenomena Experience

The 70mm film, the negative, means high resolution and panoramic projection. A 70mm film, screening, means high intensity experience. And living it, in all Spain, can only be achieved in a movie theater in Barcelona. It is called Phenomena Experience and it combines high image and sound technology (although 70 mm film has existed since almost the beginning of cinema), and the concept of a movie theater from other times: wide spaces and a single room projection, in this case with a 15 x 6.27 meter screen. Also, before the movie begins, sitting in one of Phenomena's 450 seats, you will see how a large red velvet curtain opens with its corresponding white curtain.

Few films are shot in 70mm today, not only because of the cost and size of the projection equipment but also because of the film equipment. Sometimes 70mm is used to shoot part of the film and the rest is shot in 35mm. In these cases, the 70 mm film is usually used to shoot scenes in open spaces, although Quentin Tarantino insisted on doing it in a stagecoach and in a house, main settings of "The Hateful Eight". Currently the director of Kill Bill is, along with Christopher Nolan ("Interstellar" and "Dunkirk", both shot in 70 mm), the great defender of this filming and projection system.
