The fascination with the forms of nature has existed since ancient times in the art world. This exhibition, featuring a collection of works from the Centre Pompidou, reflects on the historical relationship between art and nature, as well as between culture and science.

The title of the exhibition is based on the word "bios" (life) and "morphé" (form), terms of Greek origin that were incorporated into the history of art in the 1930s. In this era, marked by multiple climatic, ecological and territorial crises that threaten the very existence of the nature we know, it is crucial to rethink our connection to the world around us and on which we depend.

"Art and Nature: a century of biomorphism" presents around eighty works selected from the collection of the Musée National d'Art Moderne - Centre d'Art Georges Pompidou, highlighting the contribution of contemporary artists who offer committed new perspectives. The paintings, sculptures, photographs, designs and architecture on display are structured in four thematic sections: metamorphosis, mimesis, creation and threat. The presentation avoids didactic categorization or chronology, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the natural universe, which in the digital age seems to represent the ultimate display of purity and authenticity.

In the exhibition visitors will be able to contemplate works by Picasso, Kandinsky, Miró, Dalí, Le Corbusier, Raoul Hausmann, Dubuffet, Paul Klee, Alvar Aalto, and many more.

The ticket gives access to all the exhibitions of CaixaForum Barcelona.
