Barcelona has a wide and varied architectural heritage. It is enough to go out to the street to discover it, but we can go further and deepen in it. That is the objective of Architecture Week, a multidisciplinary event organized by the City Council of Barcelona, the College of Architects of Catalonia (COAC) and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, in collaboration with Barcelona Building Construmat and ArquinFAD. During eleven days Barcelona will hold a large number of activities related to the world of architecture and the city: you can attend cinema and architecture cycles, conferences, guided tours, contests and dissemination spaces in all the districts. And most importantly, most activities are free (some require prior registration).
One hundred years of Bauhaus
In the edition of Architecture Week 2019, which coincides with the centenary of the founding of the Bauhaus school of design and architecture, the organizers will emphasize the legacy of the different architectural movements of the early twentieth century, in order to stimulate the reflection on the built environment of cities and their value through the dissemination of architectural activity, knowledge, experience and debate. The final objective is to reinforce the link between architecture and citizenship. That's what Architecture Week is about.
