The 2021 edition will take place in a mixed, face-to-face and online format, although the face-to-face format will predominate. The festival will include 138 films from 25 countries in its program, which can be seen in the cinemas of the Cinemes Girona, CaixaForum, the French Institute and the Filmoteca de Catalunya, and the FILMIN platform. Of the program, the film that opens the festival stands out; the 14 Iranian films; the 15 from India; Philippine cinema, Japanese cinema or the new cinema that comes from China and Korea.

Sónar is still running, and from October 27 to 30, 2021 it will present two new festivals in Barcelona: the AI and Music Festival, an event dedicated to artificial intelligence in music creation, promoted by the S + T + ARTS program of the European Commission and in association with UPC and betevé. This new festival will coexist with SónarCCCB, in an extended, face-to-face and more musical version, with different live music stages, conferences, workshops and Sónar + D presentations.

After the 2020 online edition, the most important event in Barcelona dedicated to manga and its derived genres, will once again be face-to-face. This year's poster, by Carles Dalmau, is representative of that transition: it presents us with a post-apocalyptic city of Barcelona rescued by the optimism provided by the otaku culture. Tickets are not on sale yet, but they will be very soon, and keep in mind that they will only be sold online while supplies last.

Gastronomic Forum Barcelona 2021's main objectives are to advance towards sustainable food and contribute to the recovery of the sector in the post-covid stage. The show will have more than 300 exhibiting companies that will occupy a total of 10,000 m2, 6,000 m2 of exhibition space and 4,000 m2 for more than 70 activities, a gastronomic congress and the Forum Lab innovation area, carried out in collaboration with the World Capital. of Sustainable Food 2021 of Barcelona.

Under the slogan The illusion returns, Automobile Barcelona will show the novelties of 23 car brands in what will be one of the biggest events in the sector this year. The contest, which will take place at the Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc venue from September 30 to October 10 (from September 30 to October 1 for press and professionals, and from October 2 to 10 for the general public) , will focus on the future of sustainable mobility.

La Mercè - Barcelona's FestivalAfter 2020, the year in which La Mercè was held, but with many limitations, this year the most important event in Barcelona recovers its essence, although with all the necessary precautions. 2021 will put us back in touch with the traditions that we most appreciate and the classic scenes of the party will be present again and, as always, new spaces will be added. The proclamation that will mark the beginning of La Mercè 2021 will be in charge of Custodia Moreno Rivero, activist and neighborhood leader of the Carmel and Can Baró neighborhoods. Havana is the guest city in La Mercè 2021, so in La Mercè this year you can enjoy music, dance and images created in the capital of Cuba. On September 24, Passeig de Gràcia will host, between Diputació and Rosselló streets, the popular culture collectives of Barcelona. The Piromusical will be held, but not to be seen from the street, like last year.
