The MNAC renews its exhibition discourse and at the same time increases the number of rooms in its permanent collection of modern art dedicated to art created during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). In total, 108 new pieces are exhibited, including paintings, drawings, photographs, engravings, sculptures, paper money, illustrated publications, posters, photomontages and films, which were placed at the service of both sides of the war. Also on display are works by 43 artists, some of which have never before been exhibited in the museum's rooms, and a set of 57 works from the museum's reserves that are being exhibited for the first time in the rooms of the permanent collection. Likewise, works from private deposits and some recent acquisitions will be shown for the first time, which contribute to enriching the exhibition discourse.

The areas of the new rooms

  • The Pavilion of the Spanish Republic in Paris
  • Bombings and massacres of the civilian population
  • Propaganda, photojournalism and cinema
  • Currency in the Civil War
