The Barcelona Antique and Modern Second-hand Book Fair began in 1952 and is the oldest in its scope in Europe. The offer available to the public is very large, with prices that adapt to all budgets, allowing anyone to purchase books to enrich, complement or start their own personal collection. In addition, the Guild of Old Booksellers of Catalonia plays a fundamental role throughout the year and stands out even more during the fair. Its direct work in the cultural field contributes to the circular economy, revitalizing the value of bibliographic heritage and prolonging its useful life far beyond what usually happens in traditional bookstores, where novelty books have an ephemeral life. Furthermore, this work promotes values such as reuse, the preservation of historical memory and solidarity.

This year, the fair advances its dates and will begin to receive visitors on Friday, September 8, extending beyond the Mercè. In addition, important novelties are presented, including an outstanding opening event, a cultural program that will focus on the three weekends that the event will cover, the usual exhibition that this year is related to the world of jazz and a new initiative that seeks to revive essential works of local literature.
The Fair will occupy 226 linear meters distributed in three sections, with space for 32 bookstores in total. With this participation, the Passeig de Gràcia Fair recovers figures that were maintained before the pandemic and also incorporates bookstores from outside Catalan territory. In addition, there will be the Fòrum DAU AL SET space, which will offer activities, and the traditional space for the exhibition.
