The Sónar festival arrives in 2019 to its 26th edition. Last year, coinciding with its 25th anniversary, they released music in the direction of the planet Luyten b, located 12.4 light years from Earth. If the possible inhabitants of that planet will still take 11.4 years to receive the broadcast, here on our planet, in Barcelona, we will enjoy this year more than 140 concerts to be held in the 9 stages that add the Sónar by Day and Sónar by night. Among the highlights are the return of Arca, the Venezuelan genius and fetish artist of Sónar. Arca will present in Sónar by Day new material that according to all indications, will be overwhelming and extreme; Underworld will offer an impressive audiovisual show at SonarClub; and Vince Staples, one of the most respected MCs of American hip hop, will debut at the festival with a concert at Sónar by Night.
Festival of the Dreta de l'Eixample and Modernist Fair
The Festa Major in the Dreta de L'Eixample quarter of Barcelona is imbued with modernism, and it could not be otherwise: modernism is a characteristic feature of the architecture of the area. One of the most popular activities of this Festival is the Modernist Fair, which this year celebrates its fifteenth edition. This fair is already an outstanding activity in Barcelona and every year it has more visitors.
An initiative of the Hotel Association of Barcelona so that all Barcelonians can enjoy the hotels, and in particular one of its most emblematic and ideal spaces for the pre-summer period: the terraces. The 9th edition of the Week of the terraces comes with 65 participating hotels that organize more than 200 free activities: live music, family activities, cooking workshops and gourmet tapas, dances, synchronized swimming, gastronomic tastings, wine tasting and cocktails, magic shows and many more activities that await you up there, on the terraces of the hotels.
Off Week is an underground techno and house music festival that takes place over three days at the Parc del Fòrum. The main international electronic music labels and collectives will offer showcases with their most recognized artists.
Sónar + D is an international congress that has been held since 2013. Its objective is to explore the way in which creativity modifies our present and how that same creativity imagines new futures. In this multidisciplinary congress, which is held in parallel to the Sónar Barcelona, researchers, innovators and leaders of the business world collaborate, and brings together in Barcelona outstanding artists, musicians, creatives, designers, filmmakers, thinkers, scientists, entrepreneurs, makers and hackers. This year's edition is organized into five sections: artificial intelligence, music and sound technology, design of experiences, quantum computing, and the next internet.
