During the summer months, Barcelona's small and medium-capacity concert halls face numerous difficulties due to the start of the festival season and Major Festivals. Many of these venues stop programming concerts and even choose to temporarily close their doors, which deprives regular bands from playing in these spaces and negatively affects workers in the sector. In order to address this problem, the Association of Concert Halls of Catalonia, in collaboration with the Barcelona Institute of Culture, presents the concert series "Sala Barcelona". Its objective is to transform once again the Castell de Montjuïc into an impressive terrace, thus offering all lovers of live music the opportunity to enjoy the best performances in the city.
About the 2023 edition of Sala Barcelona
In this year's edition, the format remains unchanged: open-air concerts in the courtyard of the Castell de Montjuic, with a reduced capacity of up to 400 people. The proposal will be hybrid, combining tables and chairs for those who want to enjoy the atmosphere and enjoy summer nights, and there will also be space for the public who wants to stand and surrender to the rhythm to dance.
