The Barnasants Canción de Autor cultural project was born in 1996 with the aim of promoting singer-songwriters' songs (mainly in Catalan), embodying the spirit and values of the nova cançó movement. Ultimately it is to promote it among the younger generations and thus create a bridge of communication with previous generations, and encourage transmission and listening.
The event takes place in several venues and in several towns. The dates below refer to the concerts that will take place in Barcelona and Hospitalet de Llobregat, cities where Miquel Gil, Sílvia Comes, Pi de la Serra, Tomeu Penya, Enric Hernàez, Joan Isaac, Quimi Portet, Toti Soler or Xavier Ribalta will perform.
About the 2023 edition of Barnasants
This year's Barnasants presents more than 50 performances of both established artists and emerging voices. These are the main keys to this new edition of a festival that enjoys very good health:
- The festival kicks off with a special concert at the Teatro Juventud in L'Hospitalet on January 27, which aims to vindicate bands like Orquestra Plateria or La Salseta del Poble Sec, who during the Transition created spaces of freedom in the major festivals.
- The guest country this year is Cuba, which will be represented with more than 10 concerts. In the international program we will also be able to see artists from Chile, Argentina, Colombia, France and Italy on stage.
- The graphic poster of Barnasants 2023 commemorates the 50th anniversary of the murder of the Chilean singer-songwriter, artist and activist Víctor Jara.
