The fourth edition of Barcelona Wine Week (BWW) will be held at Fira de Barcelona's Montjuïc exhibition center. 700 wineries will participate in the fair, and 60 Designations of Origin and other quality labels will be present. The BWW has become firmly established in the trade fair calendar thanks to the success of previous editions, and is the first major event of the year for the wine sector in Europe.
The main objective of the BWW is that international operators can get to know the wide range of wines from practically all the autonomous communities. The priority of Barcelona Wine Week is to increase business opportunities, as exhibiting companies will be able to establish numerous contacts with foreign wine buyers (more than 300 among importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers...). And along with them, 1,300 national buyers from large-scale distribution, retail and specialized points of sale will also attend.
The areas of the Barcelona Wine Week 2023
BWWexhibition
An exhibition with 700 exhibitors that enhances the quality of the product. The exhibition space is organized into two main areas: the main area, BWW Lands, which brings together wineries by Designations of Origin and other quality labels; and BWW Brands&Complements, which brings together some of the most emblematic and recognized wine brands, along with companies that offer equipment, accessories and services for the wine sector.
BWWhub
Under the slogan "Spain, a unique mosaic of soils", BWW 2023 offers a program of conferences and tastings that will highlight the great wealth of soils in the Spanish wine-growing territory. The interventions of renowned experts who are also dedicated to the production and elaboration of wine in different areas of Spain stand out, such as the Masters of Wine Norrel Robertson, who has been producing his wines in Calatayud since 2003; Fernando Mora, with vineyards in different parts of Aragón; and Andreas Kubach, director of Península Vinicultores, with wineries in La Rioja Alavesa, among other areas. The BWVhub will also host conferences and round tables on trends and challenges such as sustainability, innovation or digitalization; specifically, topics such as vineyard soil management in the face of climate change, new ways of reusing bottles, the benefits of eco-design, the protection of the country's old vineyards or how to better communicate Spanish wine will be analyzed.
BWWgastronomy Food & Wine Restaurant
A space where the goodness of our gastronomy and Spanish wines are shown and enjoyed. Breakfast, snacks, lunches and after work will be organized throughout the day. This year we will be surprised with the world of tapas, traditional dishes, and the exquisite and famous Asian and Italian influences through three outstanding restaurants: Cecconi's Restaurant by Alessio Biangini, Bar Alegria by Tomas Abellan and Kao Restaurant by Josep Maria Kao.
Wine Tasting Journey - Soils of Spain
Another key event of Barcelona Wine Week 2023 will be the wine bar Wine Tasting Journey - Soils of Spain by #alimentosdespaña, which will propose a tour around the country in the form of a self-guided tasting through 50 wines made in unique soils of Spain.
Barcelona Wine Week is aimed at professionals in the wine sector.
