Summer concerts at Park Güell


The Barcelona History Museum (MUHBA) offers four free guitar concerts in July in the iconic Park Güell. The Plaza de la Natura in the best known park in the city will be filled with the chords of four very different guitar styles:

The classical guitar (July 3): with Àlex Garrobé, one of the best current classical guitarists, he will make an anthological recital of works by Barcelona authors such as Fernando Sor, Miquel Llobet or Joan Manén, or closely linked to Barcelona such as Eduardo Sáinz de la Maza or Marco Smaili, from whom we will hear the emotional tribute he dedicated to Tete Montoliu.

The Mediterranean and flamenco guitar (July 10): with the trio formed by Marco Mezquida (piano), Chicuelo (guitar) and Paco de Modo (percussions) who will offer a selection of his successful record work "No hay dos sin tres", that goes from flamenco to rumba and for which they have received the City of Barcelona Prize for Music.

The mestizo guitar (July 17): the duo of young Cuban guitarists residing in Barcelona Pyrophorus Guitar Duo, Alí ​​Arango and Josué Fonseca, will introduce us to the mestizaje of these two musical traditions through the guitar, with a repertoire that It ranges from bolero, son or guajiras to new creations born in Barcelona.

Guitar and Manouche Jazz (July 24): with guitarist Albert Bello and violinist Oriol Saña with his quintet, one of the best manouche jazz on the current scene. Accompanied by Camil Arcarazo and Claudio Lázaro (rhythm guitars) and Joan Motera (double bass), they offer us a fascinating journey full of swing in the years of the Republic.
