The Song Vida solidarity festival aims to make young people aware of the importance of donation. The non-profit event is organized by the Association of Patients and Liver Transplant Patients of Catalonia (ath.cat), with the collaboration of the Blood and Tissue Bank of Catalonia and the Catalan Transplant Organization. Its objective will be to raise funds for the ath.cat reception flats project.

The Song Vida promotes the message of organ and blood donation through music and, above all, the involvement in this charitable project of musicians from the Catalan scene such as Señor Oca, Ladilla Rusa, Pirat's Sound Sistema, Chalart58 and Matah, Guiu Cortés, Lauren Nine, DEM and Sandra Bautista. The master of ceremonies of the event will be Rude Teo, one of the creators of the Luv Messenger collective, who will be in charge of warming up the engines of the concert.

More organ and blood donations needed

At the end of 2021, and despite the recovery of figures in transplant operations after confinement, in Catalonia 1,218 people were still waiting to find a donor in order to survive. The waiting lists to receive an organ are long and the sick people waiting to receive it are left with hope, but in Catalonia 24% of families still say no to donation. The same goes for blood donations. Every day Catalonia needs to receive an average of 1,000 blood donations in order to meet the blood, platelet and plasma needs of all hospitals, but expectations are met on few days.
