The city of Barcelona is not known for its Easter processions, however, several are held. Here we indicate the processions and the Stations of the Cross that take place in Ciutat Vella:
Palm Sunday (April 2nd 2023)
Procession of Palm Sunday by "Pontificia y Real Hermandad de Nuestro Padre Jesús del Gran Poder y María Santísima de la Esperanza Macarena de Barcelona". Also called Procession of the Burreta.
- Start and finish: Parish of Sant Agustí, Plaça Sant Agustí, 2 (Ciutat Vella)
- Hours: 10:00 am - 1:15 pm

Procession of the Good Death by the Congregació del Santíssim Crist de la Bona Mort
- Start and finish: Major Parish of Santa Anna, calle Santa Anna, 29 (Ciutat Vella)
- Hours: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m
Maundy Thursday (April 6th, 2023)
Stations of the Cross of the Blood for the Reial and Il lustre Arxiconfraria de la Puríssima Sang de Nostre Senyor Jesucrist (to be confirmed)
- Start and finish: Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi, Plaza del Pi, 7 (Ciutat Vella)
- Hours: 6:00 p.m.
Good Friday (April 7th 2023)
Procession of Good Friday by la Hermandad y Cofradía de Nuestra Señora de las Angustias.
- Start and finish: Parish of Sant Jaume, carrer Ferran, 28 (Ciutat Vella).
- Hours: 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
- Route: Parròquia de Sant Jaume > Ferran street > La Rambla > Cardenal Casañas street > Pi square > Sant Josep Oriol square > Pi street > Portaferrissa street > Boters street > Pla de la Seu (Cathedral) street > Santa Llúcia street > street Bisbe > Sant Jaume square > Ferran street > Parròquia de Sant Jaume.
Peculiarities of this procession
- It is the only set of images of the province of Barcelona carried on shoulders.
- The exit and entrance of the churches are done on their knees because the set of images does not fit through the door.
- The image of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias is an 18th century sculpture.
- The Crucified Christ corresponds with the invocation of the Christ of the Agony with great devotion in the Parish of Sant Jaume.
- You can participate as a Nazarene, "mantilla", or dressed in a suit and black tie.
