The Cypriot and Greek Film Festival of Barcelona aims to show the Barcelona audience a careful selection of recent film productions from Cyprus and Greece. A total of 5 feature films are finalists for the Jury and Audience awards for Best Film. Also, as a novelty, the 7 short films competing for the Jury Award for Best Short Film will be screened.

The Barcelona Cypriot and Greek Film Festival presents a fascinating selection that reflects the richness of contemporary cinema from Greece and Cyprus. These films highlight the complexities of life, from the struggle for redemption to family connections over time.

Program of the 6th edition

  • Magnet: Directed by Corinna Avraamidou and Kyriacos Tofarides, this 110-minute film explores three interconnected stories following a terrorist attack. The cast, led by Prokopis Agathokleous and Rita Hayek, promises an emotional cinematic experience.
  • Black Stone: Directed by Spiros Jacovides, this 86-minute comedy-drama follows documentary filmmakers searching for a missing son, connecting with the desperation of a Greek mother accused of fraud.
  • My Beloved Smyrna: Directed by Grigoris Karantinakis, this 141-minute film follows an elderly Greek-American woman on a humanitarian mission, exploring family connections across time.
  • Listen to meDirected by Maria Douza, this 108-minute film tells the story of Valmira, a deaf teenager, facing the danger of prejudice and intolerance.
  • Ave Volver a Ver, Slumdogz!Directed by Andreas Kyriacou, this 94-minute comedy-thriller follows a group of theatrical friends desperate for success.
  • Zorba, the GreekDirected by Michalis Kakogiannis, this iconic 142-minute comedy-drama celebrates its 60th anniversary with a special awards ceremony.

This festival offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in contemporary Greek and Cypriot filmmaking, exploring poignant stories that transcend borders and cultures.

The sixth edition of the Cypriot and Greek Film Festival is organized by OKTANA House of Culture and sponsored by various entities from Cyprus, Spain and Greece, and by the FILMIN platform.

All films will be screened in original version with English subtitles.
Each film has only one screening and tickets are limited.
