FotoPres "la Caixa", an international reference in the field of documentary photography, opens in this 20th edition a new phase. After his initial commitment to photojournalism, it is now expanding into a broader context: the new role of the photographic medium. The popularization of digital photography and its dissemination through new technologies has added a new element to a still open debate: the status of the image as a valid document to explain reality. The ten projects brought together in this exhibition test new records, motives and formats to deepen social aspects that are hidden under the enormous amount of images produced and consumed daily.

The exhibited works have received aid for the production and publication for projects of Documentary Image of the "la Caixa" Foundation and have been prepared under the supervision of tutors and the end result has been published as a photobook.
