The RCD Espanyol is the second most important football team in Catalonia. Until the year 2005 it had its stadium in Barcelona city (the Sarrià stadium, although it also played in the Olympic stadium of Montjuïc). That same year he played his first match against Liverpool in his current stadium, the RCDE Stadium, located in the city of Cornellà de Llobregat. The RCD Espanyol was founded in Barcelona in 1900 by a group of students from the University of Barcelona under the name of the Spanish Foot-ball Society.
Espanyol has played 87 seasons of the first division of the Spanish league and as the best result has managed to finish in third place in four seasons. He has won the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) four times and was runner-up five times. On an international level, he has been runner-up in the UEFA Europa League (formerly the UEFA Cup) twice.
